external transmission filter

where do you guys buy the external filter for the transmissions? i know i need a special tool to disconect the lines.......... just trying to find a better price then dealers......

Tascafordparts.com for about 80 bucks shipped i think. Its part FT176, i dont know the ford number off the top of my head. Surely someone will have it. I bought the tool and it was crap. Its 20 bucks for a piece of plastic. Don't bother. If its the first change buy the filter and take it to the dealer with a bottle of Mercon. I had them change mine for 50 bucks. The tech said it was a B*&*^ to get off. The original factory equipped filter is installed dry and has a tendency to stick. If you are doing it yourself, I was using the backside of a hammer to GENTLY pull the lines out. When it got too hard I said forget it and had the stop do it so I wouldnt do more damage then good. The filter is $136 alone from the dealers

You need the tool like this: 6.0 and 6.4 Trans Line Disconnect Just about any tool truck can order them otherwise look on amazon or ebay. I own a bunch of different ones and I love them. They hold up very well.

That looks good. Just dont buy the plastic one. It was $20 and a flimsy POS. Don't get duped like me!
