Gauges vesus OBD

I have an Edge Insight I use to monitor EGT, Boost, ECT and Trans Temp. Is the information as good and/or reliable as what you would get from real gauges?

From what I have read the answer would be yes. I do not have personal experience with them but I have done a lot of research on the issue so much my head has exploded on several occasions lol. I am sure others with real world expierence will chime in. Good luck.

I have the Edge Insight on mine as well. Yes, they read as accurately as the mechanical guages. Maybe more so. They read exactly what the dealers' computer does. I actually like this type of reading better due to the fact that you are getting the info from the trucks computer not from a sensor made who knows where. I've had mine at the dealer running and got a reading, shut the truck down-unplugged and hooked up their laptop, restarted the truck and got the same readings. I am pleased with that, and so was the tech.

I am running analog gauges as well as the Edge Insight in my truck and they are nearly identical in their readouts of Boost, and Trans Temp. I also like the ability to watch voltage and engine oil temp(EOT), as well as engine coolant temp.(ECT)

Not on the 7.3's or 6.0's. The 6.4's and 6.7's have factory EGT probes but I'm not sure if it will read from those or not.

Yes. You do not have to do anything else to the 6.4 to read the EGTs. Just mount it up and plug it in. Takes all of 15 minutes to mount and run the cable to the OBD. This is what mine looks like installed. The EGT is in the bottom left corner. You can set it up to be one of the larger guages. Just hadn't done that yet when I took the pics. You'll see coolant in upper left, oil in upper right, tranny in center, EGT and boost in lower right. Neat thing is when it goes into regen, ithe screen turns black and displays a red 'R' the turns back to normal when it is done.

will they ever come out with a cts only mount as the conversion is ugly.

Any idea why it goes black during regen and won't let you read temps then?

Wondered that myself. Even though I like it the way it is(for its usefulness), I'd be one of the first to buy the new pod!
