I always make sure the alarm is on in my truck but it's not like my old alarms that is for sure. I have left the windows down a couple of inches set the alarm then like half an hour later I go out and unlock the truck from me reaching inside the window. The alarm doesn't even go off. Doesn't make sense to have the factory alarm.

There is no alarm on the 08-10 trucks, just keyless entry. Basically you have a chipped key and a little theft light that flashes for a security system. There was an option to have a factory installed alarm though.

got the ford alarm option, and it was set but apparently it stops sounding all by itself after a certain time. I heard the viper alarm was good, any other alarms people like?

Before I bought my 2010 I looked at another truck same model and year and it had some type of factory alarm that only gave you a few seconds to put the key in the ignition before the alarm would start screaming. I looked at a lot of trucks and that was the only that I saw with that type of alarm. Seemed like it would have been pretty annoying to have to always be in a hurry to start the truck. Anyone else have this alarm system?

Viper 5902,
it has a full color paging keyless entry remote so when you hit the button to unlock the doors it disarms the system so you dont have to hurry and start the truck before it goes off, disarm it it does not go off period. It also is a remote start so you can start the truck and leave the security system active until you get up to it to get in. If someone messes with your truck and sets off a sensor the system pages you on the remote and lets you know whats going on. I have the glass break sensor, motion sensor etc, if you walk up and look in the side windows of my truck after about 3 seconds the system starts churping to let the person know to back off. My next add on is the Smart start for my cell phone so I can start the truck and keep track of it no matter where I am. |

Getting the Viper 5901 install tomorrow, as stated above seems to be a very good unit, friend has one in his truck and is real pleased with it, also installing the SMARTSTART system, which alows you not carry the remote instead you can use your iphone.
