Spare Keys/ Remotes

I just got My 08 F450 a week ago and it came with one key/remote, I bought a set of 2 Blank Keys/Remotes for the Truck, How do you go about programming the Remotes? I have a Hardware Store that can cut the Keys for me or should I bring them to the Dealer?

Pretty sure that all has to be done by the dealer. Depending on where you got those keys, they may not work. The keys have to programmed for the anti-theft system on your truck. Not cheap to get done.

The instructions are in the owners manual. If you buy the key that operates the security system, from an one vendor and try to have it cut by another, allot of store will not cut it for you. Try this link.................

I believe you have to have 2 working/programmed keys before you can program any more yourself. If you do have 2 of them working, it's very easy to do and in the owner's manual.

^^^ this would be correct. It's a trip to the dealer if you only have one working PATS key.

The remotes are easy....cycle the key 8 times ending in on, the press any button on the new remote. The doors should either lock or unlock depending on which you pressed.

Thnks for the Info Guys, I will be taking the blank keys to the Dealer to have them cut. I will program the remotes myself.

Any hardware store can cut the keys for you, however the dealer will have to program at least one more key/remote for you. Then you can do more keys/remotes yourself if you like.
