dealer bs or not?

dealer just called and said they found the problem. i have a wine noise coming from the rear of my dually. it only happens between 21-25mph and is pretty high pitched and loud. doesnt matter what gear im in, rpm's im at, or 4wd or not. now he said its the gasket between the cat and dpf. has anyone ever heard that? also they wont fix it because ''its only covered under the bumper to bumper''

does a bad gasket really wine like that?

thanks for reading

edit: 41k on it right now and bone stock

Never heard of such a thing.

Besides that, if it were the gasket, is that not considered a part of the emissions system? Emissions warranty is beyond the bumper to bumper.

My vote....dealer is full of BS because they are not able or willing to find the real issue.

It's possible. I had a very odd noise that I couldn't pin pont for a while. It ended up being the exhaust hitting the trans. crossmember but only touched when the engine torqued just right. Because every time I checked it there was perfect clearance there. But anyway it may be worth changing if that's what they are saying it is. Should be warranty though, not like that gasket is a normal wear item like brakes or something.

I would have thought that would have been covered as part of the emissions warranty. Sounds like BS to me.
