Looking for a new super duty and have ???'s

Are the serious inherent issues with the early 6.4's ? As unbelievable as it is it appears as if the early 6.4's are cheaper to buy than the alledgedly dreaded 6.0. Seriously in the market for a new super duty but gravely concerned over the number of early 6.4's on the market. Should I shy away from the 6.4 all together ? or just the early ones ? What should I look out for ? Are the later 6.0's(06 or 07's) more reliable ?

HELP !!!

With the proper deletes the 6.4 is proving to be very reliable. I had an 06 6.0 and almost turned away from ford because of it, what a POS that thing was. I am extremely happy with my 6.4 and haven't looked back since, this is by far the best vehicle I've ever owned.

Most of the problems I have read about concern the 2008 Job 1 trucks. With that being primarily the radiator.

Most issues after that seem to stem from a component within the emmissions system causing some headaches.....namely the DPF going bad (cracking) or a sensor failing.

This is from my observation of what is written in the forums....I do not speak from experience with my truck or others I know that have the same.

I wouldn't shy away from them. They are great trucks and if you can find an early 6.4 for a good deal then it may be a great buy. The main thing would be to check it out as extensively as you can before you buy and put it through its paces when you test drive it. Get the warranty history from Ford to make sure it hasn't been in the shop its whole life. I have an early build 08, 2/07, with 105K on it and its solid.

My 6.4 is stock and I love it. Its an 08 job 1. My buddy has one with a spartan, 4" dp, 5" dp back and an intake and its amazing just with that stuff done to it. The only time I absolutely hate my truck is after riding in his. :-P

Just remember too, the 08's are now almost 4 model years old and there is a new body style out. With all of the crazy financing you can get, many people are going to upgrade.

Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my truck, but it's hard not to want something new and improved.
