it refers to the Diesel Particulate Filter on the exhaust. It is a cleaning component that cleans the soot out of the exhaust to make for a cleaner output, it wastes lots of gas and power when in "regeneration mode" which is once or twice a tank in occurance. I am sure some pro's will chime in and correct me if i am wrong, i removed mine before i drove my truck 300 miles because i do not like them at all.

There are a lot of positives to removing it but before you remove it you need to be aware that you will not pass inspection without it and it is against federal law. The chances of getting caught depends on the state in which you live. Some states don't care.

Call Nate at Performance Truck Parts. He will set you up. He took care of me and answered all my questions. You will need a tuner, I went with Spartan, but have heard good things about H&S, and at a minimum, a DPF delete pipe. I would recommend doing a downpipe back exhaust vs. the delete pipe, will cost a little more, but worth it and it is easier to install. You can do it all in your driveway in a couple hours max. |
