New saying hello

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say hello I am new to the forums. I have a 99 F-250 that I will be trading in on monday for an 08 F-350 Crew Cab. My old 7.3L has been good to me but its time for an upgrade. The kids are old enough to ride so the wife wants a Toy Hauler and a 4 door truck for the trips to the dunes. I am excited to put some addons on this new truck so I look forward to hearing from you guys the pro's and con's of stuff.

The 08's are great trucks. first things first get a tuner and a dpf delete... its well worth it!

I agree! I bought an 08 F350 and the first thing I did was put a "Spartan" tuner and got rid of the DPF. I have had zero problems. I took a trip to Canada from the Carolinas over Christmas and I averaged 26.5 mpg on the way there, and 28 mpg on the way home. (according to the dash readout) The power is unbelievable and I love this truck. I bought it with 44K and now have 69K. You are going to love it, but put the tuner in and be sure it is a "Spartan".

Quick question. Can you add the Tuner with out removing the DFP? Does the tuner void any warranties I see that removing the DFP does so I was just curious. The truck as 12k miles on it hardly ever driven. I was trying to decide how long to wait after buying before blowing out any warranty issues haha.

Here is how it works. The "Dash daq" programmer that "Spartan" uses, downloads the engine and trans factory programming on a "Flash Card", and keeps it there. The tuner uploads the Spartan program to your vehicle. By doing this, none of the factory settings are changed, (which can be traced by the dealer if they are simply changed), instead it stores the factory settings separately. Second the DPF filter is "Inline" in the exhaust system, therefore, once it is removed, you keep it and replace it prior to your visit to the dealership. Be sure not to let the muffler shop keep your DPF filter or exhaust tip.
Now, when you need to take it in for warranty, simply reload the factory tune, reinstall the DPF, and there is absolutely "no trace" of a programmer. Your Ford dealer will appreciate the fewer visits that you will make for warranty, because the truck works better with the Spartan Tune. I use the 250 tune and would recommend it highly. Cheers.
