2008 6.4, lots of smoke during regen

I have a stock 2008 F250 6.4. During the regen process I will typically blow out a ton of white smoke for about a minute, maybe 2. It literally clear out anyone behind me on the road. It's my understanding that the regen process shouldn't really create alot of smoke from the exhaust so I'm a little concerned. no codes throw and the truck runs fine when it happens, I just feel bad for the people behind me when it happens and wonder to myself if this is really what the EPA thinks is a great idea to reduce emissions!!??

Also, anyone know of any good Diesel tune shops in the Central NJ/ Bridgewater area?

Thats definitely not good. You might want to bring it in to get checked out. I would be willing to bet the DPF is shot.

Wouldn't I be throwing codes if it was shot? I only have 45k on it, although I do live in NJ, the land of stop and go driving. I guess I should clarify, the smoke is really more grayish, with a hint of blue. It doesn't happen through the entire regen, and not at every regen. It happens probably 2 out of 3 regens thought and the people behind me definitely get smokes out alot.

This has happened to me only once, when it was cold. Went into regen. Stopped at light. Then when I took off from the light I had lots of grayish smoke.

Happens to me about 2 out of 3 times it regens. Like I said, no codes, no other funny behavior, just alot of smoke when I accelerate.

Mine does it also, not every regen. Come to think of it most likely when its still not all the way warmed up. My buddies did it too before he got a sparan

i have found it is more likely to happen if i dont allow the truck to finish a regen..ill park over night, the next morning itll go into regen with in a few miles of the house. since ive notices this i have tryed to let it finish and have not seen the smoking for some time now

I have 70k on my truck and I've only had it blow out white/gray smoke a few times during regen, but never has it thrown any codes
