Slug in my fuel pump/filter

My water indicator light was staying on so I remove the fuel filter and found slug in the filter and housing. Any body know the best product to use so it won't return?

Ya, I was thinking one bad Slug.

Was the sludge in the fuel conditioner module on the frame? If so it needs to be drained at least every month. I also run DieselKleen every few tanks and drain the seperator and have never noticed anything abnormal at my filter changes (every 10,000 miles).
