thought i would share this

I went to my dealer in Sioux City today to order my '08. In with the pile of paperwork was an interesting document I had to sign. One of the first paragraphs of the paper said,(and I'm paraphrasing), that although not recommended, aftermarket tuners and chips that are installed to increase the motor's performance will NOT void the manufacturer's warranty, including modifications to the exhaust system. It was made clear that if an aftermarket part caused the failure of a Ford part or system, that perticular repair would not be covered under warranty. If a service is needed because of failure NOT due to any aftermarket device, the repair would be covered as usual. I'll get a copy of the document and post it verbetum.

this was from a nother forum. im not sure if its legit but maybe give some of you 6.4 owners some hope

It's actually been that way thanks to the Magnuson Moss Act. I can take my rig to the dealer to have my sliding rear window fixed and ask them to please not kick my N2O bottle while they're working on it and they can't NOT fix my window because I'm running nitrous. If your mod directly causes the failure you're screwed but otherwise mod up.

BUT you have to have the money to fight it! That is what I was told, yes the act is there, but unless you have the funds to fight the dealer and Ford....

Ford won't fight you on it if you tell them you're going to take it further - they DONT want that LAWSUIT!

Manufactures CANNOT Void an ENTIRE warranty due to an aftermarket performance enhancing part unless that part DIRECTLY caused the breakdown.

Also - in your insurance claims - Manufactures CANNOT Void ANY of the warranty for aftermarket parts being put on a vehicle for collision repair (ie. aftermarket hood or headlamps or other body parts)
