Thumping in Dash When Heater On????

I notice on my 08 F350 that when the heat is on that there is a intermittent thud/thump noise from behind the glove box. Not very loud, just hear it every minute or so when the heat is on. lowered the glove box and put my hand on blower box behind the glove box and could feel a the thud. Not sure if this is normal or if it is vacuum opening and closing the door to let outside air in. Any imput would be great!

Sounds similiar to what I had, kinda like morse code..... annoying as hell . It would happen intermitently, once it started it would not quit regarless of climate control settings (Even when off). after key cycled it would sometimes come back immediatley.

Took truck into the dealer, tech came out and listened. Seemed to know right off what it was and that they have had to replace a few. Turns out there is an ignitioned acc. motor that works with the climate control/defrost sytem located somewhere behind the center of the dash, was replaced under warrenty. Noise gone, problem solved.

Hope this helps. Good luck

I have the same thing except it happens with heat or AC but not when I turn it off. I just turn the radio up but I am starting to think it might be something I need to fix.

could that be the reason one side of my vents will blow hot air and the other side cold when they are set at the same temp? I'm at 56k miles so I'm sure I'm out of warranty guess I'll just turn the radio up so I can't hear it!

Yeah, I don't think its right, and it only does it with the blower on. I can only hear it during low speed driving. Can't hear it on the highway.

I don't hear mine on the hwy but my wife says she can sitting in the passenger seat - again it only happens when the blower is on. I can deal with the clunk as long as nothing breaks and or everything keeps working.

there is motors on the heater box doors and it sounds like one of them is bad the teeth come off the gears could be the heat blend door or the fresh air door when you here the noise turn the heat control or the fresh air door and see if it stops

When you say turn the heat control do you mean floor heat HOT? Versus turning the fresh air and vent through the dash?
