what is this thing behind my glove box???

i opened the passenger door today and noticed a little plastic pop off cover on the side of the glove box facing the passenger door...it had a pic of a gas pump with a slash over it (saying do not put fuel in there) what is that thing for????

IIRC its the fuel cutoff switch, so if you were to get into a wreck it kills the pump and you have to move it in order for the pump to work again.. I may be way of though.. haha

Correct, it is the fuel inertia cut off switch. If you get in a wreck the shock will trip the switch to kill the pump. If it gets set off all you have to do is pop the cover off and push the switch in. I've pranked a couple of friends by tapping on the cover to kill the switch and watch them try to figure out why the truck won't start.
