Exhaust Question

I was under the truck (2008) Loking at the exhaust for an upcoming delete.Just in front of the cat but before the up-pipe there is a round canister bolted to the top of the exhaust kinda on a bracket. What the heck is it?

. That's all it's for. Also adds some additional un-needed weight the DPF/DOC for when you take it off.
