im looking to buy a new truck and i would love to have another diesel but i know the fuel mileage isn't as good as my 7.3 but i was wondering if you guys that have them could give me your opinion on them. i will be buying a f350 ex cab short bed. i will be putting my plow on this truck and if i decide to put a hitch in possibly my parents fiver. thanks in advance

What exactly do you want to know? I bet if you use the search function you will find a lot of info on the 2010 6.4's.

okay i will do that. i was looking for how people liked them and what kind of fuel economy people were getting and how the overall performance was.

the 6.4s have been a great truck. they have definitely proved themselves. stock, they dont get great gas mileage. but with a tuner and DPF delete you can drastically improve your mpg.

let's keep it simple, The 7.3 is known for having CPS problems & oil M U S T be changed every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. The 6.4 is super delicate, must change the two fuel filter every 15,000 miles & can't add any additives to the fuel or oil, BAD MPG, DPF will clogged, You'll will have problems with your 6.4 !!!

Why can't you add add additives to the fuel? I add Motorcraft diesel fuel additive to my fuel every tank. So do many others.

Yes, I too am very curious about this. I have been adding a fuel additive as well

I love my 6.4, puts out over 500RWHP, gets anywhere from 14 - 18mpg(just depends on how hard you dog it), and has lots of cool features. However, the 7.3.......you just can't beat the reliablility.

No way in hellll would I ever go back to a 7.3.....I have had 4 of them and a couple 6.0s and the 6.4 rocks them all....
