I'm trading...need help

I'm about to get married so I'm going to be selling my 2011 F250 KR and looking into getting a year or two older truck so I don't have a payment. My question is which year in the 6.4L era should I go with. I want a 6.4L from what I've heard. I will be doing a tune so how do the 6.4L trannys hold up? All suggestions are welcome...please no criticism about trading the truck. Thanks.

I would look at a late model 08 or 09. You have to do what is best for you so find what you want and not what you have to settle with. There are plenty of them out there for sale.

the transmissions are holding up great...i run the 350 tune and my trans doesnt like it, i beat my truck pretty hard though...but anything up to 310 is fine...just make sure you do your relearns and you'll be good to go

Ok sounds good...I'm asking about years because I know some years usually are better than others. I'm definitely wanting a KR...and I will definitely being doing either a SCT Innovative or Spartan. Thanks for the tranny advice! Sounds like as long as I don't go over a 310 tune, i should be fine.

How much should I look to be spending on one (KR or Lariat)?

Plan on wasting a couple thousand dollars or more. I guess you live and learn.

You do realize you are wasting 5-10k or so selling this truck. Then you are going to end up paying dealer price on a used 6.4, that's going to be running out of warranty in a year or two. I don't see that much of a gain.

off topic and sorry to threadjack, but 6.4 spartan guys- are your tuned intake and exhaust 6.4s as fast as your 6 leakers where with injectors and heavy mods? just curious thinkin about getting one with the deals they've got going on right now.

Built engine, rods, pushrods, cam, springs. Meth, turbo, injectors, fuel system, oil system. 3 disk billet, billet shafts built trans, 6.0 IC, exhaust, intake. Latter bars, gears, system, tint, HIDs. You know the typical stuff to make a 7.3 get out of its own way... dont brake.

My thinking is...I owe 30k on my current 11 KR...I can get an 08,09 for mid 30s maybe high 30. Hurting for money...going from $600+/mth to $100 to no payments a month is a big difference.

Try and find an early 09, my brother has one with the Spartan 250 , 275, and 310 tunes and hasnt had any problems. My buddy has an 08 he wasnt too lucky with.

i have an 08 KR with that i bought with 90K miles. $31K is what i paid. i went online and got it from a place in colorado springs.
