Ferry tail stories about the 6.4l
I have been reading a lot..... a lot..... of stories about everyone's problems with the 6.4l, and warranty trouble, and tuners not working right. I would like to hear the good stories that people have about the motor/truck. I just bought a 2010 6.4l, and I am now very worried after seeing a lot of these posts. I did some initial research and it seemed like they had worked out the bugs. I now have 3,000 miles on mine. So far so good.
So anyone with good stories about the truck running 100k miles with no problems or tuners being on the truck for 50k+ miles and no problems lets hear them. |

It's all good, welcome to 6.4 land. My tunes have worked great and my dealer is putting everything new in as Ford warranty applies, so set back and chill out. There are horror stories in all forums from all makes, so don't let that bug you. Now, if your dead set on tearing your truck up, well you can. Later supper's on the grill.

Bought the truck a few months ago, car fax showed no problems just routine maintenance. It has 94xxx miles. I put on a S&B CAI today and tuner/dpf delete is in the mail and will hopefully be going on tomorrow. I have only put a couple thousand miles on the truck but I love it, seems like a strong motor so far. The B50 life is 350,000 miles which is the same as the 7.3 and we all know how reliable it can be.

Subscribing!!!
I'll be closing the deal on a new 2010 in the next day or two if they can get the deal right. We're ready to sign, just making them sit on the deal for a day or two to see if I can get 'em down a little more. I'm nervous as h*&( about it but keep telling myself it can't be all that bad. I've convinced myself that they've probably got the bugs worked out by now. I'm trading in a 2007 Dodge Cummins with a 5.9 if I do it. Love the Cummins but want everything else Ford Am I stupid or what? |

I bought mine 2 weeks ago and think it's great. It has 800 miles on it and I'm getting 14-15 in town and high 18s on the highway. If it has any issues after warranty is up I'm not looking forward to pulling the cab.

Only 19,000 miles on it, but zero problems. Plenty of power and a blast to drive!

I would also consider that you are hearing these "horror" stories on internet forums - how many 6.4 trucks are on the road and how many of the owners are on these forums? You are hearing from a very small group of owners - When making my decision I looked around me and saw 3-4 ford super duty's for every dodge or chevy - there must be a reason you see more fords than chevy/dodge on the road (at least in my area). I would not worry about buying one - take care of it and don't beat on it and you should be good to go.
I bought a Job 1 2008 2 weeks ago and have 1100 miles with no problems. |
