dealership = liars
I just had my truck in the dealership for a leaking seal in my rear diff. Today I noticed it is leaking on my garage floor again. WTF, I got under it to inspect it to see that the old seal is still there. I had a conversation with the service manager and he said that maybe they changed the wrong one? I am looking at the work order that states that the rear seal was changed and cleaned, and that they added oil and cleaned all the surfaces. Does anyone know how I can get ahold of Ford directly? Or who I can reach that gives a sh$t?

I would march right back to the dealer and yell until you got the attention of someone who gives a crap and has some decision making power, roll their happy rear under your truck and have them take a gander.

I would caution going off on these guys, especially if they are the only Ford shop in-town. I'm right there with you in-terms of being pissed but I find I get ahead a bit more in the long run by being cordial about the issue. Who knows, next time you have an issue with the truck they'll bend over backwards to help you out.

I own a contracting business and I know mistakes happen, but I am looking at a full description of a job that was never performed. If I have a customer that is not happy and it is a result of my performance I would do what it takes to make it right. We'll see what happens.

Now it's extra time that you have to go down there to get this resolved which could be very frustrating, especially if you are a busy with your own business.

I'm curious what seal they did change... If any.
Maybe you should take pics before you take it back too. |

I was just thinking that if they are the only shop in-town that can do warranty work. I've gotten into it with service shops and severed ties with them after getting into pissing matches.
I'm just thinking if that is the only shop, pisses off the service guy/manager, how hard do you think they'll try to get the truck serviced in a timely manner next time it's in? I maybe diggin too deep into it but if you depend on your vehicle as much as I do..... |

There is a pinion seal and an axle seal on each side so maybe get the mechanic out there and show him your leak and confirm with him which one he changed. I am a mechanic and own my own shop and ive had many customers that jump to conclusions when they arent well educated with their trucks...Before you get pissed at them talk to them plus ive had alot of these trucks that ive changed the pinion seal in and had them come back and had to change the pinion yolk on them because they had a groove in them...
