2008 fuel economy

I only have about 1500 miles on my '08 and am not at all impressed with the fuel economy. Two trips from Flagstaff to Phoenix with the best mpg's at 12. My old 2000 PS did much better, did Flagstaff to SLC and back in March in my 2000 and got over 17 (actually got 500 miles on one tank of fuel).

2000 was lifted, 35s, Gale Banks Stinger kit, 4x4, CC, auto.

2008 is stock-4x4, CC, auto.

There have been a lot of 08 owners questioning about low MPG's. I dunno what the fix is going to be but I suggest you contact your dealer and see if they are doing anything about it.

The consensus is (from what I have read) that they seem to improve MPG the more miles they get....

My '06 6.0 was about 12 to 13 around town when it was new... Not sure what the highway was empty because the only longer trip I had taken was Phoenix to the Grand Canyon (hunting trip) pulling a trailer and the bed loaded to the hilt... Since then I'm between 15.5 and 16.5 around town depending on whether it's A/C time of year or not..... I pulled my 5th wheel from Phoenix to Las Vegas and back last year with a combined weight of 18k to 19k... Got 14 on the way there and 13 on the way back (driving a bit faster )...

It's all about the mileage on diesels... They need to "loosen up" for several thousand miles before their fuel economy starts to come up... Mine took about 15 or so thousand miles.... I'm sure the 6.4 will act about the same....

Ken....

My 08 now has 3500 miles and is up to 16.2 mpg. Still hoping to get more as it gains more miles on the odometer.
