I towed my 5th wheel for the first time with the 210 Tow tune. The 5th wheel weighs about 11 - 12k and I was using the tow/haul mode.
I know the 210 tow shifts harder than normal, but this thing slams into 5th gear around 57mph. When I say slams, I'm afraid of something breaking. It will jolt the truck and trailer. The other gears shift harder as well, but the 5th gear shift is crazy. The truck is an 08 Job 3 with the 3.73 rear axle. Everything towed great and temps were only a few degrees above normal unloaded. Comments on the shifting? I'm leaving later this week for a 3000 round trip tow with the 5th wheel and at this point am not planning on running the 210 tow tune. |

I have heard from Spartan that I should run the 250 tune instead of the 210. I have the same fifth wheel but have not towed it yet. I will let you know when I do. Good luck!

relearn process didn't work properly?

try to reload the 210 tow tune and re-do the tranny relearn. Might help.

Thanks for the comments. I did not do the relearn process. I was under the impression that the relearn just "helped" the learn process along, not something absolutely necessary. I also thought this was for the higher tunes.
I did load the regular 210 and towed the trailer from DFW to Orlando (about 1300 miles) with no problems. I do like the earlier lockup, though. |

My understanding from the Spartan guys is that the relearn is very necessary for the 210 Tow and 250-up tunes.
