Serpentine Belt, How hard to change?
Ok so among the other things the dealer is fixing on my truck right now they told me that my serpentine belt needs to be replaced.
They want 320 to do it. Id really like to avoid spending that but Ive looked before and it doesnt look too easy to do on a 6.4. Nothing compared to when I replaced one on my 7.3 So my question is how hard is it to do. Will I just be throwing tools from being frustrated or is it not too bad? Thanks |

How many miles are on your truck? And it looks like a PITA to do.

Its got 56k miles on it, the truck has had a squeaking issue ever since my head gaskets were done. I didnt think it was the belt but I guess it could be.
Yeah it looks like a royal pain |

I think that dealer is trying to screw you. Man you shouldn't even think about replacing the belt untl 100k miles.

yeah but Im thinking they may have fed up my belt when they did my head gaskets and just didnt bother to fix it since it only did it right after I picked it up from them fixing it

do these motors have a tension pulley? maybe they put it back on to tight or something

yes it does. But you have to go around the fan. You also have to completely remove the fan shroud. To do that i believe you have to remove the IC pipes. Its the domino effect
