Should I ask for the most updated Ford computer flash?
I'm taking my truck for a trans filter change and fluid flush tomorrow. Should I ask for the latest computer programming from Ford? My last Ford reflash was in April 2009.
Truck runs just fine to me, no problems. I get 12 mpg now 100% bone stock, and I have the "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" message on during the entire time of regen (which I kind of like because it tells me when it is completely done). I have heard you get a little better mileage on the new Ford reflash but the "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" message only displays for a few seconds. Just wondering what you all thought about it? |

I took mine to the dealer before I did the delete and tune to get the latest flash. I had the same flash date on mine, and Ford said that was the latest. And my regen message stayed on the whole time it was regen'ing too (before the delete, of course).

Mine has the newest flash the "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" comes on for 3-5 sec and cuts off. I liked it better when it stayed on until it was done. Now I can usually tell by the sound of the turbo but you can do the system check with the computer and it will say if it is still doing it. I get a steady 10 MPG the only thing I have is a S&B CAI.

Is that the only thing the reflash changes? The message center? OR is there more to it?

can you get a reflash if you have removed the dpf and stuff?

My understanding is that you have to go back to stock before they reflash it. That's why I took it in for a reflash (among other things) before I deleted/tuned.

Hmm.... well, I guess I'll just keep my current computer flash. Truck runs fine as it is.
I've heard the new flash has shorter, more frequent regens which is suppose to help mpg insteading dumping 3+ gallons at a time through the exhaust for a regen. |
