Tranny fluid?
Getting ready to change the trans fluid/filter how much fluid will it take to refill it? does the 08' up trucks still have that little in line filter up front like the 6.0's near the core support?

I believe its around 8-9 qt. Make sure you use mercon SP fluid. The in-line filter is dependent upon your manufacture date. I think the early 08 job 1 trucks have it, but the job 2 and job 3 trucks do not.

There is a new tranny fluid, Mercon LV. It is a synthetic. Mobil 1 tranny is listed as compatable. 08 Job 1 trannies had a external filter but mine is not the same as a 6.0. The later models 08 job 2 and up used a internal filter inside the transmission pan.

I just changed mine in my 08, took 8 quarts of Mercon LV, which you can mix with SP. They say SP and LV are both 60k mile fluids.
I just dropped the pan, changed that filter and filled the trans back up, took 8 to 8.5 quarts. I still need to change the external filter under the bellhousing. |
