Spartan vs. SCT

I've been looking around for a DPF delete tuner and Spartan seems to be the favorite. But my question is why is it twice the price of the SCT tuner. What makes it twice as good?? I bought my truck for towing so I wouldn't be using the higher HP tunes (the ones that aren't safe for towing). For those of use that use our trucks as work horses and not a race vehicles does the SCT do just as good a job?? All options welcome. Just trying to figure out what to drop my hard earned money on. Thanks.

When I was looking, I had the same questions regarding the Spartan DD & SCT.. I knew that I needed gauges and that’s what made me look at Spartan, but the price is hard to take. I ended up going with a SCT and Insight for gauges because I did not like the fact that I would only be able to use Tunes from Spartan and no other tuners. With the SCT most of the tuners out there can work with SCT. And I'm happy with the setup..

I went with the Livewire, not looking for HP, just mileage with tow capabilities. I also have the Innovative extreme street tune. When I run around empty half in town half country roads I'm seeing 15ish mpg's. Just got back from a three tank all highway trip pulling about 4,000lbs at 70-80mph and got 12mpg hand calc'd. The dash average mpg is way off, says 18-20 at all times. If you can keep your foot out of it, 15 is possible with the Innovative extreme street tune, 13ish with the canned Extreme tune that comes with the Livewire. From what I've read on here the Spartan guys aren't doing much better, although it sounds like they are less detectable from the service perspective. Is that worth the additional $600ish, thats up to you...
