Fuel Question
I recently moved up to Southern Illinois for the summer and I noticed some pumps say 5-20% Biodiesel. Is it safe for our trucks? My truck is tuned and I am pretty sure I am not imagining things but it seems hella slower. I started running diesel kleen every time I fill up. Is there anything else I should do or should I just not worry.

we have 3 6.4s and run 20% bio most of the time, but they all have deletes. I know the trucks arnt rated for it but neither are all of our farm tractors and they get along fine also and the engines are alot more expensive than these little engines.

Have you noticed a cut in power with the biodiesel mix compared to regular diesel?

You should get better power from biodiesel than regular diesel... Slightly worse mpgs, but more power. Bio has a higher cetane rating just like ethanol has a higher octane rating than standard gas.

Weird because my truck definitely felt slower. Also the whole ethanol thing is weird. If I get a station that has a higher amount of ethanol like closer to the 10% my vette goes nuts.

power hog is correct on the cetane rating, bio has a cetane rating of around 50 or so and most standard diesel is in the high forties, our regular dino fuel is premium so when you put the bio in it it doesnt really change the cetane, but most of your fuel you buy at the station isnt premium, alot of it is probably pretty poor actually. I havent ever really noticed a lower mpg, it should be alittle higher due to the cetane rating but not all bio fuel is alike.
