I HAVE A BENT ROD :(

Well as some of you knew, my 08 had a bad ticking noise when it reached 180 degrees. well I took it to my trusty mechanic a few days ago and he pulled the cab (ill post pics) and pulled the motor and tore in to it and discovered that the rod was bent and it was rubbing the pistin skirt and causing aluminum shavings to go to the oil filter. So now I get a new rod and a new piston. My question is, is there anything I should do while the motor is out and tore down? If I keep the truck I plan on installing spartan. He said that Ill have to get new studs because the stock studs are stretched from being torque'd so much from factory. so i guess Ill get some arp studs, or whoever has the cheapest ones.

Sorry to hear about that. Studs arent required on the 6.4s but still good preventative measure. Depending on what you want out of the truck, id install a wastegate, possibly upgrade the turbos and clean the intake. EGR delete is also recommended while like this.

as mentioned above......while its up.....it would be really beneficial to go ahead and put in the following

studs
egr delete and wastegate
mind as well go with elite chromeoly pushrods since youve already bent a stocker

if you want more kick........you can also do fuel upgrades such as hpfp and injectors........of course

Yeah, my mechancic recommended that I get the egr delete....I looked on elites website. and there is a egr cooling delete for 300 and then theres the egr complete delete for 1200. Im sorta confused on what the difference is between those to.. all I know is that 300 sure sounds alot better then 1200. I do have a budget. but if that needs to be down, ill do it.

The 1200 one is the wastegate kit with controller and the full egr delete, the other just removes the egr system. Just ask Spatel23 anything about it, from what i've seen he has just about everything imaginable on his truck... now he went through a lot of trouble to get there though...

was your truck stock when you bent the rod or has it been tuned before?
