Towing M.P.Gs with Delete???
Wondering what you guys get with your 6.4s towing? Looking at buying a new truck really like the 6.7 ford and 6.7 dodge. But with the money they're knocking off 6.4 fords It seems like the better deal.
Really not looking for 300+hp tunes from the delete just a lil more power with better mpgs. But at the same time it seems those new 6.7 ford are get good fuel economy. Anyways just gotta question bout the 6.4 for now since I tow a 22ft flatbed goose. Thanks. |

Your can get a hell of a deal on a 6.4 these days, that plus the fact that the 6.7's went up another $10k over what the 6.4's were when they came out makes the 6.4 very appealing.
How often do you tow or plan to tow? The various tunes, whether Spartan, SCT or Banks are not recommend for heavy towing. If you do run a tune, it's recommended to run very low tunes and to keep an eye on the EGT's. It's the higher level tunes that will give you the higher increases in MPG's. Most of the MPG increases are when driving with an unladden truck. When you apply the load, specially a large one, these increases drop substantially. Still better then stock and especially better then a gasser towing the same load. |

No one else???
I gotta 2009 Cheby 6.0 gasser. I get 14-15 no trailer and 8.5-9.0 mpg with trailer depending on load (all hwy mpgs). I haul anywhere from 3500 lbs. to 16500 lbs. |

That's the type of mileage to expect with a 6.4 (give or take a little). From what I've read the new 6.7's are getting about 10 mpgs when towing. Now I'm talking about stock numbers. |

i will reply sunday, today is my first tow with my spartan. Just FYI the guy who said don't run big tunes pulling heavy may be right for some tuners but Spartan has a 210 hp tune specific for towing.

i get about 11mpg pulling 9k open trailer with larger tractor and equipment on it. This is going through mountains of WV up interstate 77. With no load i'm normally in the 17-19mpg range depending on speed. I have gotten as low as 15 when running 80mph into a good headwind.

I get about 12.5 hauling a 3500 lb truck camper in the bed. Very high and lots of wind resistance using black maxx and no problem with Hot or Wild tunes. About 2 mpg over stock. JIM
