Hanging axle dust seals??

I have been driving down some nasty dirt roads lately, and I was under my truck today trying to find out why I am getting a vibration. Anyways, while I was under there I noticed that both of my front axle dust seals are bad, and are just hanging freely on the axles.

How many of you guys have this problem? And is it even worth fixing, since they go bad so easily? I had the same problem on my 03 6.0, and I eventually sprung an inner seal leak on the drivers side

I cut mine off and threw them in the garbage on my 6.0, problem was solved. Wasn't going to replace them just to have them fall off again.

That reminds me. Mine have been hanging for over 2 years that ive had the truck...

I figured my truck was new enough, that they would have found a better part by now that doesn't fail so quickly

Have you noticed if they are still in tact on your 09?

Mine are hanging on my 01. did new hubs and noticed it, but was too lazy to attempt fix. Hope no issues arise from it

Mine are hanging on my 01 too. Read where there are replacements that last longer than factory. Pretty common with all of them I have looked at.

I think I'll just cut them off and hope for the best. Anyone else with an 08 or newer truck have this problem?

I had the same thing happen........I got them warrantied because I didnt want to have the chance of muck getting in

I was considering getting it warranted, but I hate to go through the hassle of putting it back to stock and everything, just for them to fail again the next time I head down a dusty road
