newbie, ac click/bang

hi, ive noticed that when I hace the a/c on and also when i select the defrost on the blower direction dial I get an occassional light bang/thud from some where. If I move the blower dial to say feet, I no longer get the noise??? help!

Defrost also turns the A/C on to de-humidify. That along with the click / thud sound is normal.

That is your AC compressor coming on. I have a job 1 and had the same issue. The dealer fixed it, they told me there was a free upgrade to fix it. Mine is now quiet. Don't miss the bang!

Mine does the same thing and i have never said anything, is there any difference with the free upgrade? Does it hurt anything?

I think it was an accumulator they changed. It did not hurt anything. I think there was a technical bulletin on it.

I dug through my recipes and found it. It is TSB 09=4-1 Installed 8C3Z 19C836 C ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY.

thanks, I dont have warranty on my truck because I brought it from ford with exactly 100,000 miles on the clock. so I guess I will have to put up with the noise, and the scratched windows.
