What are EGT's?

New to diesels and thinking about getting one. What are EGT's?

EGT's stand for Exhaust Gas Temperatures.

A EGT gauge measures these temperatures to make sure you are not getting the internals of the engine to hot and causeing damage.

These are Exhaust Gas Temperatures. Depending on what year of truck you buy will depend on how they are monitored. On older trucks a Pyrometer Probe will need to be installed and gauges along with it. On newer trucks like the 08 and up have probes installed for the techs to monitor, however if you have a tuner such as mine it will monitor the temps via the OBD(On Board Diagnostics) port.
