'08 Job 1 tranny filter

So i just got my '08 F250 SC 4x4 about a month ago and have been doing a lot of research, mainly on the maintenance side of things. I've had 2 7.3's in the past, so not new to the diesel world, but i know the 6.4 is a whole different engine.

So as the title says, i have a Job 1 truck, which means i have the external tranny oil filter. i read the several threads on here that were about swapping out the pan and internal screen to the job 2 setups.

one question that i have that was addressed, but i didnt ever really see it answered. Can the external filter of the Job 1 just be left in place, and add the new internal filter and new pan with no issues? it might possibly put a bit more strain on the pump, but if that external filter only runs about 10% of the fluid anyway, how much of an issue is this? it sounds like it is quite a process to remove the existing lines and filter and if possible, would like to just leave them in place while adding the new filter and pan. does anyone have any experience with doing this?

thanks in advance for the help!
