Tell me about the mirrors with the chrome package...

So I realized that the different grille and mirrors with the chrome on them are part of the chrome package on the 2010's. I actually prefer the other grille and the mirrors that are just all black, but it seems that most of the Lariats, or at least the ones I'm finding, have the chrome package. My question is whether the chrome on the mirrors is easily removed or not? Not really a deal breaker or anything but I was just curious and didn't know if maybe it was just a chrome cover that could be pulled off or what? Thanks for any input.

The chrome grill is not part of the Chrome Package. The only trucks that get a black grill are the XL models. The FX4 package comes with a color matched grill. As for the mirrors, they are caps that do come off, but you'll have to replace it with a different cap as the mirrors that came with them are slightly different than the ones that didn't. You could buy caps for an FX4 in black and just respray them a semi-gloss black, or you could try scuffing your chrome caps and spraying them. I'm with you on the chrome caps though, they don't look good IMO. As for the grill, I think if it's the flat black that came on the XL's then your truck would look like an XL, unless of course you're going for a blacked out look.

Thanks for the mirror info... for the grill, I'm not wanting the black grill, I like the chrome grill but I like the one with the 3 or 4 bigger crossbars. The one that comes with the chrome package, if I'm not mistaken, is the one with the several much smaller crossbars, probably about 7 or so. I like that grill ok, but I prefer the bigger crossbars. Can anybody confirm that I am right about the grill on the chrome package?

Yes, you are correct about the grill. Mine is the chrome package grill.

As far as the chrome mirror caps...I can take 'em or leave 'em, but they sure are easier to clean bugs off of as opposed to the textured plastic.

Yep, my Lariat came with a different grill and chrome tipped mirrors when I picked the chrome package. I like the looks of it myself.

I could have been mistaken. Do you have the chrome package though? That would give an FX4 a chrome grill. I don't know. The majority of FX4's I see have a color matched grill.

And you're right about the grill. I hadn't realized it before. The XL, XLT and Lariat's have bigger crossbars, unless of course you get the chrome package.

In 2010 the color matched grill was not an option. I have a 2010 FX4 without the chrome package, and the grill is still chrome. For me all the chrome package offered was chrome tow hooks, exaust tip, bed tie downs and chrome steps.

The chrome package grill is considered to be a billet grill. The chrome package on my 09 included the grill, mirror caps, tow hooks, bed tie downs, exhaust tip, and 6" square running boards.

Thats funny my 09 has the chrome package but I didnt get no bed tie downs.
