fuel on exhaust and intake stroke burns twice the fuel

wife and i were on a country back road, 50 mph, curious about mpgs, reset lie meter. drove 8-10 miles. 21 mpg, not bad. then "cleaning exhaust filter" lights up. 21 down to 19, 17, 16. just for kicks, reset meter again. drove 15 miles. 10.2 mpg. wife said "thats stupid". so when the warranty is gone, so is dpf. i know, but with my luck and an 08 job 1, i feel better with warranty. (test was not scientific, just a country back road drive)

d-man, the way my lie meter does when i have it on the mpg screen and push reset button, it will count down from 99 to a steady number after a few miles. everyday and intown driving after a week 14.1. interstate at 55mph for 30 miles, 22.3. hand calculated today 13.3
