08 F-350 MPG

Hello Folks, My 08 F-350 rolled over to 5000 miles this w/e so I thought I'd share my expirence so far. 08-F-350 XL super cab LB 6 speed manual with HD towing & camper certified 11400 GVWR 18" wheels. I put 1500 miles on it before towing anything then pulled a 2300# race car about a half dozen times. My self & my buds with '99 &'00 7.3s were impressed with the power, and how smooth & quiet my truck is. Started off at 17 mpg, at about 3000 miles (Changed oil at 1500) I was down to 12.3 and I got the injector recall notice. They replaced all 4 on the right bank & changed the oil even though it did not exhibit the over full symptoms. Milage immediately improved to 16.9 according to the OBC and is a little over 17 by the math. Feels great to see the Miles To Empty goto 630 and over on a fillup. That eases the pain of a fillup a little. The truck is still doing great & I love driving it although most of the time I'm driving my 02 Ranger FX4. The truck continues to get good milage. The DPF cleaning cycle will knock off a couple of tenths but it picks it back up within 50 miles. If you guys aren't getting decent miliage with a 6.4 I'd check on the injector issue if I were you. I love this engine mainly because of the iron block & heads. With the 6.0 issues (which are fine after the head bolts are replaced) I can't believe ford is going to alluminum on the scorpions. I hope it works for them. I've enjoyed reading everyones posts here & wanted to share my own.

Wow, only 5,000 miles. I thought my mileage was low, and I am at 15,000 miles.

Sorry Guys, been offline for a few days. The letter I got is was dated Aug. 09. Customer satisfaction program 09B08. It only applies to Kentucky Plant Built Trucks. Let me know if this applies to any of you guys.

The Ford website says there are no recalls for my vin #.

That's interesting, I checked my vin and it shows no recalls also. Seems like it would be listed even if they had already fixed it. Guess I should have checked it there first. As I said earlier though my first clue was the mileage drop. If your's is OK you're probably good. Keep a check on that oil level; if it's ever too high I'd have them check it. I hate taking a vehicle in for service but I had to get this one done.

Thanks, I'll keep a check on the oil. I just got my Blackstone report back and there was 0 diesel and 0 anti-freeze and everything was below normal.
