Im a huge fan of the 7.3l but im going to pass mine down to my son, so im sitting here thinking why not treat myself to a new truck? Ive been doing mass research on the 6.4ls, and i ran into a video showing how great the 6.4l is all you gotta do is do a dpf delete, run a tuner. Magically your horsepower shoots up, so does your MPG. Is all this false? is the 6.4l a reliable engine? Will i get the bang for the buck?

I was trying to point out how little money has been spent on performance mods and the gains that they got me. I've only put 10,000 on mine bringing it to 30,000 so I can't really help you there.

There was an article in Diesel Power 2 months ago about a 6.4l that is running nothing but exhaust, tuning, and NOS and he makes 800hp.. It's insane..
And yes, they have proven to be quite reliable.. The only thing that I would see to "go out" on a 6.4l with higher power lvls is the radiators. I saw a truck at the dealership that was getting its 4th radiator. Other than that, they have been quite proven.. |
