Engine Block Heater

I recently purchased a 2008 F250 with a 6.4L deisel. I have never owned a deisel and didn't realize how much I didn't know. I assumed all came with an engine block heater. I don't see the cord/plug where the owner's manuals says it should be. The manual also says "if installed." I also have the original window sticker and it doesn't reference an enging block heater as an option. Does this mean my truck may not have an engine block heater?

It has the heater. They all have them. It just doesn't have the cord. Ford charges around $90 for the cord or you can search for a non OEM cord and install that.

Cord May Be There

Look for the cord. When I bought my 08 the dealer said it didn't come with a cord and wanted $100. So I went to Ebay and bought one for $15 and was going to have a local shop put it on because the weather was crappy and I didn't have an inside place to do it. They called later and wanted to know if there was something wrong with the one installed. It was there wrapped up where you couldn't see it. Then I wondered if it was on all the trucks and the dealer just wanted another $100. Anyway you can get them on Ebay but you may already have one. BTW the sticker did show an block heater but the dealer told me they all had them just not the cord.
