2 odd problems with the 08 f350

first, the other day I put the key in the ignition and it would not turn at all, like it was seized (I could take the key in and out). My buddy said to try to tap the key about 50 times to loosen pins inside, and after 15 mins it worked and the key was able to turn. Now it feels like it wants to seize again and not turn, but it has not left me stranded again.. yet.

other problem is there is a whining noise that I noticed every time I drive now, it is like a howling that sounds like brakes that need changing, but the noise is almost always there, and gets louder under braking. I checked all the brakes and they are good pads. sometimes the noise is louder under turning too, very strange,

both issues do not seem to be covered under the 100k warranty so I do not think I will take it in yet..

thanks in advance

Do both keys do the same thing in the ignition? If so try using some graphite in the cylinder. Does your brake pedal feel strange? Check your powersteering fluid.

I suggest checking the wheel bearings for your whining noise.

KEY BIZ.....

Take the strain off the steering lock and the key will turn... There is just a bit of pressure there, relieve that and bingo, key works just fine...

Noise, get service before damage, maybe wheel bearings or carrier bearing on rear driveshaft is out...

Regards, from Oz...

Bingo.. There is steering pressure against the lock. Just try turning the steering wheel one way or the other slightly and the key will move nice and easy.
