Job 1 Oil Change Help
Me and New2Ford are working on changing the oil
on his Job 1 truck. I thought it would be easy and fast ... but we found that his oil cap looks different than mine. That is to say, the FL-2016 oil filter doesn't snap into the cap on his the way that it does on my Job 3 truck. My truck has the cap with the extended "teeth" allowing the filter to lock in. His cap doesn't. What's deal? Does the Job 1 truck use a different filter? Or, is the cap different? I've heard of some aftermarket filters coming with their own cap. Any ideas what's going on? |

oil filter cap that is different? Or, do you think the cap that is on his truck came from a previous aftermarket filter that came with it's own cap? It just seems to me that the cap that is on there now isn't really compatible with the FL-2016 filter. Also, the filter we pulled out of the oil filter housing didn't have the "locking" part on it either. The filter that we pulled out wasn't a Motorcraft filter ... |

have any place for something to get stuck. But, otherwise the cap looks just like mine ... it looks OEM but doesn't have a way to lock the filter in how mine does. Also, the oil filter we pulled out doesn't have anything to lock in either. |

maybe the OEM cap was chucked at some point and replaced with one that works with aftermarket filters. But, the cap looks totally OEM except the inside

the top plastic plate on the old oil filter fits in snuggly to the cap I had to push it to make sure it was not part of the cap it was a pain to get the old plastic out it was snapped in tight to the cap. push on the inside edge of the cap and just see if it moves there was no hole in the piece that was stuck in the cap and it looked like it was part of the cap
