For the weights that you tow the 450 would be the way to go. With the 19.5 tires you will have less wear on the tires. I also am not sure whether you can still get the 410 gears on the 350 or not. The 430 gears on the 450 are not that bad.

My job1 '08 F350 dually has 4.30's. My job1 '08 F450 has 4.88's. Since I have the F450 now, and it's the right tool for the job, I don't use my '08 F350 to tow the heavy hay trailer. Before I had either one of those '08's, I used my '03 6.0l Dually with 4.10's to do the same job, and it did it quite well. I have no doubt that the '08 F350 would do a stellar job too, but since I have the F450, I use the F350 to tow horse trailers, and feed trailer, ambulances, etc. The F450 is a little stiffer than I like when towing my horse trailer. I don't like to jostle the horses around.

any of you notice the 2011 f450 isnt really a 450. they dropped the dana 110, the 19.5s and the bigger brakes to save weight and mileage. so if you would want all that it would have to be a chassis cab and there goes the pick up truck interior

Thanks for the replies. After talking to a few Ford dealers, they have talked me right into a new C-4500. WAY LESS MONEY, air ride rear and exhaust brake. The dumb a** dealers around here are trying to push a single wheel truck on me, telling me I don't need anything that large....

I can't believe they were trying to get you to buy a single rear wheel truck. Just mentioning you mainly tow a truck would be almost enough to encourage you for a dually. Stupid dealers. At least post some pics after you get it. Or now that you got it.

Look into a cushioned hitch.

Going first thing Tuesday to prove to them that a single wheel truck will not work. I just loaded 15-1000lb. round bales on my 28' gooseneck trailer. I just left the cat scales with the trailer dropped on the scale it weight just over 20-klbs. He has a new F-350 single wheel with a gooseneck already installed and 3.73 gears.
That is something else, even the dual wheel trucks I have found down here are all 3.73, no 4.10's anywhere.

Will update on tuesday after the test drive. I can't wait to set his truck on the ground..
