You definitely need the Mercon SP. The clutches are not compatible with the older Mercon III.

my other concern would be is that he hasnt flushed the trans, so he'd be mixing different fluids

Haha thanks guys. I figured it out. I went and found some SP. And I did end up pulling all the solenoids and filter and did a full flush. But I didn't put III in it. And it's running great now btw. Thanks for all the help
