Definitely a Spartan or SCT setup for these trucks. You don't have to spend the extra money on the hot tunes if you don't want to, but what's the fun in that haha. Umm basically just buy to fit your budget. But let me tell you, I have the Spartan 275 tune and everything deleted and it is freakin awesome. 500+ horsepower, 1100+ torque, and I still get 15 mpg on a tank of just city driving. And I'm 18 so imagine my driving habits haha. I took an 8-hour trip a couple months ago and got 22 mpg straight highway driving. That's over 600 miles a tank. I am very happy with what my truck is now and wouldn't have done a thing differently. Trust me, it's worth the extra money to get it done right. But SCT is a excellent way to go too. I just don't know as much or have any experience with it or the EDGE so I'm telling you what I know. Spartan for me, but SCT is a great way to go too.

See, this is what I'm talking about.

I OWN A CUMMINS, I AM TRYING TO HELP MY BROTHER-IN-LAW.

He, is in upside down and backwards in his truck and fifth-wheel and does not have the $. Get it? He is talking about getting rid of his truck if he can't make it better. Then he will be even more in debt. I spent about $2.00 on my Dodge to get rid of my cats and dpf. (and now with Smarty I'm 500/900 whatever doesn't matter) I just wanna know if someone has already done the legwork on the ford.

Whats inside the dpf-r? anyone looked? I bet its a simple resistor stack. All it takes is a data logging meter and some time. Figure out what the computer needs to see and give it those values. If I had access to the truck I'd already be on the case, but he lives a ways away.

Oh well, I guess I will try and tackle it if I get time. I'll report back if I find anything. Thanks.

no, no one has looked inside because, as I said earlier, it doesn't work all that well. Consequentially nobody uses it. Tell him to make sure he has the latest flash from Ford, and to leave it alone. No radioshack magic is going to significantly increase the economy.

Theres sadly no cheap way out for the 6.4's like with your 6.7, these trucks are too smart and can't just be "tricked", it needs to be flashed to do it right, and there is no $1 tuner out there. If he can't get the best I wouldn't fool with it, because it will end up costing him more money down the road for when his non warrantied truck takes a chit when something happens and it's obvious the emission equipment was fouled with.

He has a 6.7 cummins, you can just use egt sims and it fools the sensors into thinking that the dpf is still attached without programming it, just some simple resistors

Not all trucks reject the DPF-r module, but it seems that a lot do. I don't know of anyone that still runs it, actually.

The next cheapest option is to get an Edge Racing Evolution. This will definitely work for the DPF deleting part. It actually re-programs the computer properly, so it doesn't have to be fooled. As far as the quality of programming, I can't vouch for it. I think it would be a good option if you have a manual transmission, but personally, I wouldn't run it if I had an auto.

Basically, if you have already spent $40,000 (or upwards of $60,000) on a truck, you ought to treat it right. There are only two options that I would trust to delete the DPF properly, and also protect the transmission. That is Spartan, and SCT (with custom tunes by Innovative or RCD)
i know i know 7.3 guy here, but i agree. If you have $40k+ in your truck why couldnt a guy spend an extra $1000ish and have it done right?
No disrespect to your request on the first post though.

Well then, get the f'k out of our thread, cummins guy!!! Thanks

I'm getting 15 to 16 mpg (Hwy) on my truck with 2200 miles on it. I'm not complaining. 8 mpg towing which didn't surprise me pulling a 7500 lb travel trailer.

I too would like to know if this can be done.
I get 14 mpg with my 08 F-250 Bone stock with 3300 miles.
it has gone into Reg. mode at least 5 times that I know of.
this sounds like to many to me compared to what some of you are saying.
Thanks Wilseya
