What good is a fast duramax if the suspension is only good for 6-12 months?

What duramax did you compare your test drive with? Did you race a new(er) one?

I am sure i'm not the only one confused by that statement. I still prefer a straight axle, but that IFS has prooved itself quite well under GM's diesels. The only real weak spot has been the tie rods, which sleeves have shown to be an easy fix.

ford defenetly has the truck and im sure the new ones are just as strong of a truck, but when ford come out with this motor it was suppose to be huge power. It may do good loaded but empty it will not run with the d maxx im comparing to the lly dmaxx im a ford guy and i was hoping the 6.4 was going to blow the dmaxx away!

But you still haven't answered as to how you got to the conclusion. Did you test drive one and have a drag race with an LLY, or are you going from a butt-feeling? Back up your claim with some details.

Dont know about the 08 but duramaxes rule around here.At the track on the road wherever as far as power goes. There was one at the track last year running 8.0s in the eight mile, and he towed a big rig in there also so I know it wasnt no purpose built truck. He said the moter and trans was stock.I didnt have time to ask him what he had done to it,he was busy with his race car.

i bet any money with a tuner the 6.4 will make more power than the Duramax will ever even dream of making. I figure Ford is keeping the hp and tq numbers low right now to see how good the reliability of the motor is . 1 or 2 years go by and everything is good to go you might see another 25-50hp from the factory out of the 6.4.

Ya 99, I'm tempted to agree with you there, there's lots of tech in the new mtr, but I think they will play it safe for the first bit, just to see how it performs, and holds together.

Gord.
