While white is great to hide imperfections, I'd say there isn't any color that looks better than black when it's properly maintained. Lots of work, but it will definitely draw a lot of attention. From your avatar, you've got a great combination.

Clay Bar, Wax, etc.

I tried a "clay bar" for the first time - used it on my black '08 Mustang GT this afternoon. It seemed to come out pretty good. I have heard people rant & rave about the effectiveness of clay for detailing a vehicle - so I figured it was about time to give it a whirl.

I used the Meguiar's brand "clay bar" kit that came with a spray detailer, a soft terry cloth, a box with two small clay bars (only used one of them) and a 4-ounce bottle of "cleaning wax" - about $15 for the kit. I purchased it at Wal-Mart.

From start to finish, including thoroughly washing the car by hand, I suppose it took about 3 1/2 hours - including a beer break or two. My Mustang probably did not have too many impurities in the paint because the clay bar did not get very dirty at all. The worst sections were the lower part of the rear fenders and the rocker panels underneath the doors. All in all, it was an excellent way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

I have posted a few photos below. Sorry they are not the best quality, but I have an "older" digital camera. Even so, they are not half bad in my opinion.

Another great job, look awesome! Wish my truck only took 3 1/2 hours!

I clay barred my F-250 and my FLH a couple months ago and they didn't come out so great. Not the claybar's fault, just too much time since anything was done to the finish. I used ultimate compound and then liquid wax (all Meguir's) on the bike and it came out awesome. I want to do the F-250, but it doesn't fit in the garage of my crappy rental duplex and there is no way I am going to spend 10 hours in the Central Texas sun doing it. Maybe I will go talk to the custom shop up the road and see if I can borrow some workspace for a day one weekend.

Any pictures of the FLH? Mine needs some serious cleaning.

Truck looks good. I use the meguiars stuff too and love it. Clay bar takes time but is totally worth it.

The clay bar is awesome. I couldn't believe how well it worked on my 99 when I used it years ago.
