ICP.....WTF???
i had my truck in for service last week because it was idling rough and killing after being warmed up. it ran like it wasn't getting any fuel to the engine. the truck would idle rough, and when the accelerator was pushed, nothing happened, totally dead pedal. the tech said he did all the diagnostics, and after performing the " WIGGLE TEST", he determined voltage from the ICP was irradic and spiking at times. instead of changing like he told me he would, all he did was jam some di-electric grease into it, and sent me on my way. ***NOTE, the truck is running, and running good, but what does the ICP do, and where is it. when it kills again, i would like to be able to wiggle it on my own and see what happens?***

From what I understand the location of the (ICP) Injection Control Pressure sensor depends on the year. The 03's sensor is located in the valley under the turbo. And I believe the newer years 04-07 it is on the passenger valve cover. Seems to be a common problem. Not sure what the sensor does but it is linked to the HEUI system. If you are going to fix it yourself I would get a new sensor and new wiring harness from Ford.

It's a pain in the *** on mine but fairly simple to replace on yours. I recall reading a thread on how to change one on a newer truck, so if you can find that thread it has good pictures of it.
edit I found it it's in the 6.0l repair help section. Last edited by 03dieselman; 06-17-2009 at 03:52 PM. |
