EGR cooler symtom?

I here so many stories of 6.0's with bad coolers. I have a 05 with 35k on it
and never have had a problem with anything. If my EGR cooler had a problem what would the symtoms be that I would look for? And is it only a matter of time before it will cause me a problem?

coolant puking out the surge tank cap, white smoke out the exhaust, coolant dripping from the exhaust. first thing is to keep a close eye on your coolant level, if its dropping and your having to add chances are something is leaking whether it be a head gasket or cooler or something else. i personally take an oil sample at every oil change and watch to see if my potassium and glycol percentages go up in my oil content thus showing coolant entering the cubustion system.
