whats that sound

Ok so im sure its a dumb question. 05 6.0 while pulling a load, say up a long hill, there is a sound that comes on stays on for a short time and goes off. Sounds like a fan coming on. same thing would happen to my 02 7.3 what is this.

i know back on the 7.3's they had a problem with the turbo surging. Ive never heard of it on a 6.0

samething happened to us pulling the pontoon boat the otherday. i just told dad it was the fan since he started to freak out. im assuming its the fan since it hasn't done it since.
