looking at a 6.0L need more info
Im thinking about driving 3hrs south to check out a 05 cc srw 4x4 truck. I wanted a 7.3L but sick of looking at beat up trucks or ones that are way overpriced. The truck in question is in ohio has been zibart rustproofed and came from florida. Truck has 95,000 miles on it. Im not too concerned about having a fast truck(have a couple cars for speed already). I just want a nice reliable truck for towing my boat/snowmobile trailer/camper and to take hunting. Nothing that i couldnt tow with my f150 with the 5.0L, and hope to get decent mileage outta the truck so i might change the exhaust/intake and add a tuner but need to do more research before i get into that.
My question is if this truck hasnt had any problem yet at 95k should i still worry about having to do the egr delete or head studs in the near future??? And if i do have to end up doing the egr delete or studs how much $$$$ am i looking at to have it done. Is the egr delete something most people can do on their own??? Also if i become a supporting member and want to get oasis reports is there a special section to check them or do you have to email them to someone everytime you want to check a vin??? thanks guys |

As you stated, get an oasis report done and find out exactly what has been done to the truck. As far as EGR delete and Studs, you can get by without them, but having them is just added piece of mind. And for the cost, your looking at around 3,000 for all parts and labor. I did the EGR delete myself, but if you have never torn into one of these trucks, the task can be a little daunting. Hope this helps some and ![]() -French |
