Get Me Started
Just purchased a 2005 F350 SRW SB with 6.0 PS. Haven't even picked it up yet and already thinking about the upgrades. Been reading a bunch on the forum here, which is quite a feat with dial up. So far I've been thinking of the following upgrades somewhat in order. Let me know what you think. Being new to this stuff for the most part there'll be a lot questions to come.
Gauges...EGR, Trans, Boost. Stewart Warner seems the way to go? Exhaust..Turbo Back 4"....Stainless or aluminized?...Any difference in brands? Oil filter bypass...Amsoil or FS2500? Changeover to synthetic oil....Amsoil or Royal Purple? SCT tuner....Standard or custom tuned? Water/meth injection...Labonte looks like the way to go? EGR delete....Expensive!!!! What I want...in order...Reliability, mileage, power. Truck will be used to pull horse trailers, flatbeds for hay, etc. I like to get where I'm going but old enough to be outta the hot rod phase. Also need to get a B&W turnover ball, bed coating (Rhino?), maybe air bags and/or leveling kit. Since this site has been so helpful I'd like to stick with the sponsors here. Thanks to all who take the time to share their knowledge and experience. I sure learned a lot in a short period of time. Thanks, Al Smokin P Ranch Performance Horses |

I dont think you will need water/meth injection until you get up into big hps
Some will say stay away from stewart warner gauges and go with something like isspro or autometer. As far as stainless or aluminized IMHO stainless just keeps looking good over time and cost more. SCT-definitely custom tunes! Anyone will tell you that. As far as whose tunes I dunno I don't have a 6.0 Hope this helps some |

Wow you guys ain't only good you're fast.
I'd sure enough like to do studs but the money tree will need some fertilizing before that happens. But I'll do what i can to keep the power levels within reason. I've heard the stock intake filter system is pretty darned good. Glad of that cause can't really believe the prices they get for some plastic and an air filter. Do the custom tunes electronically restrict the EGR? What kinda money would I be lookin at to have someone do the delete? From what I've seen I'm gonna get a hold of Raul over at Stealth when it comes time to get into the SCT. Autometer is what I was thinking for gauges. Somehow SW popped in my head when I was typing. |

When you get custome tunes it can be turned off 99% of the time. If you look around you'll several diffrent kinds of delete kits. Some delete the egr cooler change the up pipe and delete valve, some just block off egr cooler and valve and redirect the coolant line.

Might want to go with the Isspro gauges, they have been around forever and do most of the gauges in tractor trailers, farm equipment, etc.
Another thing about them is that they have gauges to match the ones on the dash. Here's my Isspro's. Notice how well they match up:
