Changing a fan belt on a 6.0
Ok, I had to put a fan belt on a 06 6.0 today. I never in my life would of figure how much of b***h it was going to be. I had to remove all that plastic that was around the fan to get it off. What happened to the good old days when putting a belt on was only like a 15 minute job. Oh well, I was just curious if anyone else had as much trouble with this as I did?

the shroud is made to be cut and bolted back together once finished...iss that how you took it off?
I imagine i'll take it off in pieces with a sawsall and trash it. It really don't need to be on there. |

Takes about 5 minutes to change a belt on a 6.0.
Stand on the pasenger side pull the belt with all your might, reach down below the tentioner pully and flip the little metal clip. The tentioner will release remove the belt, snake the new one on pull the belt again, reset the metal clip and your done. I will add that this is much easier with to people one to pull the belt and one to move the clip. I will also add that I couldnt figure this out a couple months back and called Scuffy on the phone and he told me how to remove the belt. Last edited by Big Tone; 06-04-2009 at 07:08 AM. |
