Blown head gasket

Yep...another one. My dad's truck (07 6.0) is at the dealer for a blown head gasket. The truck has about 60,000 miles on it and has a Banks( ) tuner which has been installed for about 15,000 miles. Sooo....the question is...covered or not covered by warranty? Dealer said they're trying to decide but this is such a regualar occurance on these engines that it's tough to say if the tuner caused it or not. Thoughts?

Sorry for the bad new, from what I've found out if you have a mod friendly dealer and are straight up honest with them its very possible to be covered.

You do know that tuners are not well respected by the ford warranty people right? Also the banks isn't a very good tuner. If it were me and I still had warranty I would have pulled the tuner before I took it near the dealer

Yeah Im aware...but here's a little backstory.

The truck was taken to this dealer for AC problems a little over a month ago. The truck started loosing some coolant right after they finished with it. Never smokes just looses some coolant over time. He brought it in just figuring it was a hose clamp that was loose or something like that that may have been done when they did the AC work. They called him yesterday and said it was a blown head gasket and they had to check with Ford to see if they'll cover it or not. So he called to ask them about it this morning and come to find out they never even looked at the truck. Read the symptoms, saw the tuner and assumed a blown head gasket because that's so common. <--no BS that was what the Shop Manager said So after b!tching with them for a bit they called back and said it may be something to do with the oil cooler.

you can usually get the dealer to put studs in at the time of replacing the HG's if you supply the studs..... it is a common occurance with a tuner or not and my dealer here doesnt care if I have the tuner on extreme, they will still work on the truck...

Let me know if you need to get some studs for it... I can make you a great deal
